A district court in Imphal has granted bail to four men who were arrested in connection with clashes that broke out in the Imphal Valley in April, while the broader investigation into the incident continues. The men, all residents of valley-adjacent localities, had been in custody since their arrest.

Police had initially charged the group under provisions related to unlawful assembly and rioting. Defence counsel argued that evidence directly linking the men to specific violent acts was limited, a position the court appeared to credit in granting bail with conditions including regular reporting to the local police station.

Investigators said the case remains open and that additional individuals could still face charges as the inquiry proceeds. The April clashes, which displaced several dozen families temporarily, remain one of several ongoing investigations tied to intermittent valley unrest this year.
