Heavy pre-monsoon showers over the past week have flooded low-lying sections of relief camps in Bishnupur district, where hundreds of displaced Meitei families have lived since the early months of the conflict. Camp coordinators said tarpaulin shelters have failed to hold up against the rain, with several families reporting standing water inside makeshift rooms.

District officials said temporary drainage work was underway and that tents would be relocated to higher ground where possible, though space constraints have limited options. Camp residents said requests for concrete flooring and better waterproofing have gone unanswered for months.

The state disaster management authority said additional relief material, including waterproof sheeting and dry rations, was being dispatched this week. With the full monsoon season still weeks away, aid groups working in the camps have warned that conditions are likely to worsen before they improve.
